can the ECU cause the the back up lights to stay on
The ECU for an automatic can be used in a manual transmission. However, it will not work vice-versa with the ECU from a manual transmission in an automatic.

it should be located to the right of the gas pedal behind the radio on bolted to the floor. the transmission ecu should be attached to the top of the unit
Problem with the transmission ECU. Don't confuse Engine Control Unit (ECU),with the Transmission Control Unit (TCU).The TCU is under the carpet of the passenger seat.Available on Ebay for less than 150.00
If its an automatic tranny then its in the same area as the ECU behind the stereo
If you have an 03-04 Then it should be Near to the ECU. If you have an 04.5+ then its integrated into the Transmission.
