It is called phagocytosis.
Endocytosis occurs when a substance is brought into the cell. Phagocytosis is a type of endocytosis, and is called cell eating. Pinocytosis is cell drinking, another type of endocytosis.
Endocytosis moves large and polar molecules, that are unable to pass through a cell's plasma membrane, from the outside of a cell to the inside of a cell. There are three types of endocytosis:Phagocytosis (cell eating)- the process by which a cell engulfs macromolecules.Pinocytosis (cell drinking)- the process by which small dissolved substances enter a cell. Small vesicles pinch off of the plasma membrane into the cell.Receptor-mediated endocytosis- the process by which a cell engulfs molecules specific to its receptor proteins. Molecules bind to specific receptor proteins in the receptor-coated pit. Basically, this type of endocytosis is the same as phagocytosis. The only difference is the molecule specificity, which is sensitive to the type of receptor proteins.See the following link for an animation of these cellular processes and exocytosis:http://bcs.whfreeman.com/thelifewire8e/content/cat_040/0504003.html
Phagocytosis is the process by which a cell engulfs matter and packages it into an internal vesicle. Pinocytosis is the same process but for a liquid. Collectively these can be referred to as endocytosis. A type of human white blood cell called a phagocyte uses phagocytosis to ingest bacteria, toxins and other pathogens and delivers them to lysosomes (membrane bound vesicles of digestive enzymes). The phagocyte then undergoes autophagy (self digestion) and dies, during infection the build up of these dead cells gives rise to puss.

The 2 types of endocytosis are pinocytosis("cell drinking) in which liquids are taken up by the cell and then there is phagocytosis (cell-eating) in which the cell engulfs certain substances.
The process is called endocytosis.
well icreallyt do no tknow can someone plz plz plz answer i am desperat ewhat means cell eating like what does is the word
active transport by endocytosis
Phagocytosis is a type of endocytosis. It is also known as cell eating, wherein the cell ingests or engulfs large particles.

Endocytosis is the action of cells engulfing other cells. Usually when a cell tries to engulf another cell and digest it, it would need some type of enzymes such acid hydrolases or others, to break down those engulfed matter. These cells are usually referred to as Lysosome cells. C for Plato users
Cells perform endocytosis through membrane movement. Endocytosis is a type of Bulk Transport, which involves the movement of larger particles (vesicles) through the membrane in and out. Endocytosis involves Phagocytosis or Pintocytosis. Phagocytosis: when cells engulf particles via pseudopodia ("false feet"), which is packaged in the membrane into an enclosed sac, and once inside the cell, it becomes a vacuole. Pintocytosis: when cells GULP extracellular fluids and makes them into vesicles. The fluids are unimportant but gulped anyway for the molecules within it.
fluid=pinocytosis particle=phagocytosis
There are three types of active transport. They are endocytosis, exocytosis, and sodium potassium pump. Endocytosis is when the cells ingest substances. Exocytosis is the process of releasing contents of the cell to the external environment.
