What is the unemployment rate of lawyers?
The unemployment rate for Lawyers is 2.1%. Since March of 2010,
it has been recorded at 2.1%
However, more than 40% of law school graduates never practice
law--the market demand for attorneys is much less than the supply.
So that 2.1% figure (which I believe is badly outdated given the
massive layoffs of late), only includes the <60% who actually
leave school and receive a job offer in the practice of law. In
addition "solo practitioners", who may handle a few DWI or other
simple cases per year, are counted as "employed".
Worse, the statistics are from corporate responders, not from
licensed attorneys themselves.
