Image Processing is the process of manipulating an image acquired through some device . The image too often will be acquired from photographs,scanners , medical equipments. The emphasis is on Analysis and Enhancement of the image. Computer Vision is an area where Image Analysis is used a lot. Raster Operations dominate in the case of image processing. In the case of Computer Graphics , you will mix vector and raster operations to generate the final image.
Image Processing classify as three type. (1) Low level image processing (noise removal, image sharpening, contrast enhancement) (2) Mid level image processing (segmentation) (3) High level image processing (analysis based on output of segmentation)

Vector and bitmap are both image files. Bitmapped images are images that are stored on a pixel by pixel basis and because of this, when you enlarge the image it can appear blocky. A vector image is constructed from dots, lines, shapes, etc. Each part has a particular position within the image with it's own dimensions. Because vector images are constructed using images, they can be enlarged without loss of image quality. Vector images do not get the blocky appearance of an enlarged bitmap image.
Vector-based files are more suitable for illustrations that require precise measurements, where as a bitmap image is not as sutible.
