There is a book printed every year with the current coin values. That would be a good place to find your answer. Second, look for coin clubs on the internet, or believe it or not, Yahoo chat room, with coins being the subject. There are many helpful knowledgeable people in that place. My current guess for a 1983 Proof US half dollar is between $2 and $5
Please post a new question with more information describing the mis-strike.
To avoid confusion, coins are said to be struck or minted. Bills are printed. No special reason, it's just the way the terms are used.
Since 1970 was the last year that silver half dollars were made they contain no silver. These coins are technically in circulation and therefore are only worth face value. If your coin carries the mintmark "S" it is worth more than face value.
If the coin came from circulation it's worth face value only. All circulating half dollars minted since 1971 are made of copper-nickel. Regardless of any urban legends, they do NOT contain any silver.
If it's uncirculated in MS60 condition it's worth about $3.50.
I just bought one of these today at a local coin store for $4 although he showed me a book (I didn't note which book it was, unfortunately) that it was currently worth $7.
The coin has face value only, it's still found in circulation today.
Unless it's a proof coin spend it. Business strikes for Kennedy's have no collectible value at all. If you don't believe it, try to sell one to a coin dealer.
50 cents. Gold plating adds no value and collectors view it as damaged. It has the same worth as every other damaged 1983 half dollar, 50 cents.
Susan, not "suies" Dollar, not half dollar (you did look at the coin's denomination, didn't you?) Anyway, circulated 1981 coins of any denomination are worth only face value. Go ahead and spend it.
value of 5 in the diameterof a half dollar
50 cents, they are made of copper nickel and found commonly in circulation. They carry no extra premium beyond face value.
Half a dollar. Idiot.
Susan B. Anthony never appeared on the US half dollar coins, only the dollar coins starting in 1979 to 1981 & 1999. The obverse design of your 1902 half dollar is that of "Miss Liberty" and is one of the Barber series (1892-1915) of half dollars. In average circulated condition the coin has a value of $14.00-$30.00
There were no 1981 British Half-Sovereign minted.
the value is usally a dollar
50 cents.
All circulation 1971 and later halves are made of copper-nickel, not silver, so they have no added value if you found it in change. A nice uncirculated 1981-P half might bring $1 to $8 depending on quality. A 1981-D would be $1 to $12.
It's a Walking Liberty half dollar with a value of about $13.00
