No, the scheduled date for his coronation was May 12, 1937. He abdicated on December 11, 1936. As plans were already in place, George VI's coronation took place on May 12, 1937. Ironically, you can find mugs on eBay for Edward VIII's planned coronation, the coronation that never took place. You can check George VI on Wikipedia to verify this.
100.
what is the value of EdwardVIII signature
Edward Viii ( 8th) was never crowned formally- He abdicated on Dec 11 of l937 and subsequently married Wallis Warfield Simpson. ( Wally had the right middle name- the Battle ground had just begun!) Queen Mary and the Archbishop- who would have officiated at the coronation ceremony-well flipped out! So there is no Edward Viii coronation- Edward V11, certainly- the portly monarch was crowned in l902. the reason for the delay was the long re-adjustment period following the death of Queen Victoria. (Victoria died January 22, l90l).
King Edward VIII coronation mugs and jugs are not worth very much. Online sellers are virtually giving them away at prices between $4.00 USD and $26.00 USD.
it is worth about $15-$20 depending on quality (stains, chips or cracks)
Edward VIII was born on 20th January 1894.
Although he succeeded his brother Edward VIII as king in 1936, the formal coronation of George VI was not conducted until May 12, 1937.
No Edward VIII was never crowned. He abdicated in December 1936, to be able to marry Wallis Simpson, an American socialite already two times divorced. There was a huge controversy about Wallis Simpson being a fit consort for the King. The coronation date, which had already been set was used instead for the coronation of Edward's younger brother Albert who became King George VI.
