67, and 68 camaro's had what is called a "radiused" wheel well. So, the sky is the limit, as far as rear width. However, what makes it work is the "offset" of the wheel. The center part of the wheel, where the lug nuts go, in relation to the outer rim itselft. Tire shops have a tool to measure exactely what offset you need to achieve your goal.........Chuck.

The 1980 Chevrolet Camaro can come with different size rims. For rims that are 14 inches, the original tire size would be 205/75-14.
15in are what came stock but 16s aren't uncommon.
P235/55r16 If you have a Z 28 with the 6 speed, the tire size is 245/50ZR16
It came with a 305 HO motor. I have one.
