"5 degrees north" defines a circle, all the way around the globe and 5 degrees

There is no area "between" these imaginary lines. They cross at a point just off of
Brunei, on the north coast of Borneo in Indonesia.
At the equator the moist air rises and rain falls over the tropics. The air then moves north and south of the equator and sinks between 20 degrees and 40 degrees north and south. Since the air is now dry and sinking, little rain falls and the areas around these latitudes are deserts and semiarid lands.
The north pole is 90 degrees north latitude. The south pole is 90 degrees south latitude. When you travel from one pole to the other, you go through 180 degrees of latitude. Which isn't so surprising, since that trip takes you halfway around the world.
Greenland, the world's largest island, is located to the northeast of North America. Its geographic coordinates are 72 degrees North latitude and 40 degrees West longitude.
The Philippines is located in Southeast Asia at approximately 13 degrees North latitude and 122 degrees East longitude.
The coldest place in the world is Antarctica.
There's only one Prime Meridian in the world. It's a line between the north pole and the south pole, through a place near London (England). Everybody in the world has agreed to call the longitude of any point on that line "zero degrees longitude".
Lands' End in Cornwall is the westernmost point in England at 5 degrees 42 minutes west, while the nearby Lizard point at 49 degrees 57 minutes north is the most southern point. (Halfway between is the seaport city of Penzance. You may have heard of it, but there are no pirates there.) The Suffolk town of Lowestoft is the easternmost point at 1 degree 45 minutes east, and the most northern point in England is at the eastern border between England and Scotland between Marshall Meadows and Lamberton, at 55 degrees 48 minutes north.

The virtual line that divides the world into the northern and southern hemispheres is called the Equator. It is an imaginary line located at 0 degrees latitude, halfway between the North Pole and the South Pole.
North you can find this out if you look on a world map and find the 30 degrees north line then see if Japan is north or south of it .That's how you could figure it out if you have it on a test.
