its hard to say when Iran was founded. Iranian where Aryan people who came from the land which is modern Russia. when they moved to the land which is called Iranian plateau (4000 years ago) they divided to 3 families including Persian , Median ,and Parthian . these families called the place where they lived " The land of Aryans" which in old Persian is IRAN("I"=aryan "ran"=land)......so if you count this union beginning of Iran ,Iran was founded 4000 years ago,but this union wasn't that powerful to show it in history . After 1500 years (2500 BC) Cyrus II united Media and Persia together ,after this union Iran became so powerful that almost captured all known nations in that time (Lydia (2/3 Greek), Babylon,Egypt,Sacas( north Asia),Turks(Central Asia) ), Iran had became the first world wide empire and first multinational country and also the only Supper Power . Iran was that powerful that became a legend ........After all, many believe that Iran was found 2500 years ago .....
