1956 saw Ford offer it's pickups with a 6 cyl, the 272 cu in V8, the 292 cu in V8, and if you wanted to bribe the dealer a few hundred, you could get the 312 cu in V8 with the Thunderbird valve covers, the four bbl carb and chrome air cleaner. Not an uncommon sight in SoCal. back in the day.

It depends how you chop it . Fine chopped or grated, you will have about 6 oz or 170 gm per cup.
Hi This answer relates primarily to the Falcon, as the Mustang did not come out with the 144 cu in engine. The 144 cu in engine has a blue rocker cover, and is available with an 8.7:1 compression ratio and optional 7.5:1 ratio; a sticker on the inside of the windscreen, if it exists, indicates if the motor is the high-compression one. On early models, the air cleaner is secured to the top of the carburettor by a threaded rod with a right-angled end that allows pliers to be used to turn the rod to tighten the securing clamp. From memory, the 170 cu in engine has a yellow rocker cover and 8.7:1 compression ratio. Hope this helps.
Just did mine on my 300 cu in Ford 1982. Remove any parts that might be in the way, breather, gas line over the valve cover etc. Remove the bolts around the outside of the valve cover. Remove valve cover. Remove old gasket. Clean valve cover. Install new gasket and re-install cover. Replace bolts. Finger tight bolts first then tighten. If you do not have a torque wrench, carefully tighten down bolts alternating from one side to the other tightening them all down evenly. Do not overtighten, they will snap off into the head.
A 4.0L engine is 244.096 cu in.
