Last tune up? Re-check/replace points; plugs; timing; whatever you got. tip: just cause it was OK the last time you looked, doesn't mean it's OK now. It is more likely the spark. Replace the plug. If it is not the plug then it is the gas. Did you let the bike sit for a loooooong time? If you did the gas may have broken down and clogged the main jet of the carb. Disasssemble, clean with lacquer thinner, scrub with a mild wire brush, rinse with gas and reassemble. Y-THINK-Y
i have a 92 buick riviera that putters and chuggs when i accelarate but idles great
check make sure the firing order is correct.
my raptor idles but when i touch the gas it backfires abd cuts out any ideas?
it is the carb. my uncles did the same thing. you need to have them cleaned and have them put in sync
I believe it is in the casting on the intake manifold. I would have thought 1432. It backfires or stumbles or idles poorly when it is wrong, so you know immediately.
idle control valve faulty or needs cleaning
Could be a weak fuel pump or plugged fuel filter.
Very good chance the spark arrester screen is clogged. Remove it and give it a good cleaning then replace. Pretty good chance that will fix it.
It's still under warranty, take it to the dodge dealer.
It can affect the way the engine idles, the pistons fire, or the acceleration behavior. If the engine is revved up it may cause misfiring, motor vibration or backfires. Accelerating might be hesitant, and engine shaking during engine idle might happen.
Probably a dirty throttle body. For a complete cleaning procedure with pictures join our enthusiasts forum at www.trailvoy.com It is free and informative!
I would guess, it is starving for fuel. Start by replacing the fuel filter. If that does not help, suspect the fuel pump.
