What is wrong when everytime you touch the gas in your 1989 Cutlass Supreme it dies what is wrong?

check the roder and cap you might hit the gas and it will flood the car because you dont have the spark that you need
mine did the same thing as it turns out the choke spring was broken. put a new choke assy in it for 15 bucks runs like a top now.

Belt tensioner is not adjustable. Assembly is spring loaded, spring can loose tension. If belt stretches or is too long (wrong part) then .... (There are marks on assembly to indicate proper tension.)

Turbo Hydromatic 350 or 400 I think. I have a 1973 and it started with a 350 but it was swapped for the stronger 400. the speedometer will need an adapter or it will send the wrong MPH and it will look like you are going faster than you are.
