i finally got it fixed it was the mass air flow sensor of all things but only after spending alot of money replacing parts did i find this out (i wasnt getting an error code) but maybe this post will help someone in the future

There could be a few reasons why a 1997 Chrysler Sebring loses power and stalls at a low speed. The thermostat could be bad, the battery cables could be lose, or a spark plug may need changed.
Is the engine running ? no
There are many possibilities: ign. coil, Powertrain Control Module, wiring, crankshaft position sensor, battery, Auto Shut Down Relay. If there's a Check Engine light on, it may contain helpful info. When the problem occurs, you'll need an experienced technician to begin troubleshooting the source(s) of the loss of primary or secondary ignition.
Of course it will be worth something. If Pontiac doesn't exist anymore, it doesn't mean that it loses its value. From my perspective, if i had some money, i would buy it instantly.

What it probably needs is to be driven so it can relearn it's idle. After disconnecting the batery, the Computer loses it's memory. IT needs to be driven so it can make new fuel-air adjustments to the conditions it has. Pukenstein@aol.com
When you unhook the battery the computer loses its voltage reference. It then doesn't know what to set the alternator at, along with the voltage spike that happens when unhooking the battery.
For every 1000 ft an normally aspirated engine loses 3% of it's horsepower, 7000 foot would result in a 21% reduction in power.
Lubrication. If the engine loses its oil, then the internal engine parts are not lubricated and will therefore expand because of increased friction (generates heat). This will cause the engine to seize.
