There is a short to ground in the stop lamp circuit. The most common places for the short to be located are at either lamp, and at the trailer wiring(if equipped).
we are having back brakes problems
dodge 2001 Dakota brake lights won't burn Check the fuses. If the fuses are okay check the brake light switch.
Brake lights could stay on in a 1999 Dodge Stratus because of a short in the wiring. If the headlamps are off and the brake lights are still on, check the wiring for the brake lights that is inside the trunk. Sometimes cargo in the trunk can interfere with the lights.
can someone help me I can't find where the fus is for brake lights and what is the amp number for a dodge straus 2005
It's probably your brake lights, not your brakes.
Fuse 7 controls the brake lights. It should be a red 10amp fuse.
check fuses, check brake light switch behind brake pedal.
To fix a 95 Dodge Dakota with no brake lights, first check to ensure the fuse has not blown. If the fuse is good, check to ensure the brake light bulbs are not burn out.
the brake light switch is on a bracket just above the brake pedal.
If the brake lights stay on when the car is not running on most vehicles, including the 1994 Dodge Intrepid, there is probably a short somewhere in the wiring to the brake lights. The first place to investigate this problem would be the wires along the firewall that control the brake lights. Also, check the brake light switch above the brake pedal.
It is not necessarily the fuse. It could be the switch on the brake that is not closing the circuit.
Check the brake light switch on the brake pedal
