In my non-expert opinion, sugar is addictive..I suffer cravings and mild withdrawal symptoms when I cut out sugar. Fortunately, this goes away very quickly, (about 24-36 hours) and next thing I know, no desire to eat sugar! So, try going cold turkey on the sugar-containing foods and see if that helps.
