What is wrong with my power steering i have 1991 ford aerostar replaced power steering now when i drive it i have to fill it with fluid i get 5 miles down the road an its smoking from under the?

Why is your aerostar stuck in drive?
One possibility is the shift rod in the steering column may have broke, that happened to my 93. The shift lever wouldn't move, that is what led me to believe it was the shift rod.
