It's the same for all internal combustion engines.

When gasoline burns inside the combustion chamber, it produces carbon dioxide and water vapor. The water vapor is usually hot enough that you don't see it, but when the weather is cold, and while the exhaust is still cold, some of the water vapor will condense together with other water vapor molecules, producing a visible mist that looks like white smoke out the tailpipe.

It's normal.

On the other hand, once the engine is warmed up, if the white smoke continues and if you notice that the engine is using a lot of oil, it may be that the rings and/or valve stem seals are leaking, allowing oil to enter the combustion chamber. When that happens you'll get some oil burning, which may look whitish-blue.

Why is my 1999 Saturn smoking white smoke from exhaust?

When an exhaust pipe is cool, the exhaust will start to allow water vapor to condense. If the exhaust is white you're seeing a vapor cloud; it's normal and unavoidable. Once the engine and exhaust are warm, the vapor cloud should stop.

Yesterday you just had your oil changed in your 2007 mustang GT This morning a puff of white smoke came out the exhaust as you started it No smoke afterwards Why did it do that?

White smoke in the exhaust means water is being burned in the engine. A small puff of white smoke the first time you start a car in the morning is normal. Water condenses in the intake, and engine and when you firsts start the engine it burns off producing a puff of white smoke. It is nothing to concern yourself with unless the car is constantly blowing white smoke.

Why does aircooled engine blow white smoke?

White smoke will come out of a vehicle's exhaust system when the engine is cold. This is because of condensation build up in the engine and exhaust. The white smoke should go away after several minutes of idling. If you engine is always blowing white smoke, regardless of temperature, then it might be burning oil. Check the levels of your engine oil and your transmission fluid (if you have an automatic) and have the engine compression checked for blow-by.

Have a 95 Dakota v6 and is blowing white smoke?

White exhaust smoke almost always indicates a head gasket, or possibly, intake gasket leak. Often, the exhaust will also have the odor of antifreeze. The white smoke is actually the water vapour caused by coolant entering the engine's combustion chambers. This requires immediate repair before further damage is caused to the engine.

Why is my 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Hemi blowing white smoke there's no mixture of oil and water?

Check the coolant level. Is there a sweet smell to the white smoke from the exhaust? Sounds like either a blown head gasket or a cracked head.

What would cause a 1996 ford probe gt to blow white smoke when hot?

If it is blowing white smoke out of the exhaust tailpipe when the engine is at operating temperature, engine coolant is getting into an engine cylinder from a bad head gasket or some other problem
