What islands surround Hawaii?
There are no other island groups near the state of Hawaii, which sits on a chain of volcanic seamounts that stretch across the north Pacific Ocean.
There are 7 Hawaiian islands west of the "big island" also known as Hawaii.
From west to east, the 8 major islands of Hawaii are:
Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Lana'i, Kaho'olawe, Maui, and Hawai'i.
(Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui and Hawaii)
To the west, Hawaii includes several more islands, many uninhabited. The island of Midway is a separate territory within the chain, which stretches as far as Kure Atoll, some 2000 kilometers northwest of the main islands. The entire Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain stretches as far as the Aleutian islands.
