Many kinds of exercises can make your heart healthy, such as swimming, biking, walking, and more.
Good exercises for cycling training would be core exercises for the mid section, such as sit ups or planks. Leg strengthening exercises such as lunges and squats would be helpful too.
I think you could add heavy weights to any kind of exercise to make it more difficult. other than that I can't readily think of extreme exercises.
The kind of jobs that women had before the Great Depression were limited to household chores. After the Great Depression, they were forced to find jobs that would generate income.
You will have to see a psychiatrist to determine if you really are having a clinical depression. The psychiatrist can also tell you the severity of your depression and what you can do about it.
