Synthetic. Turbos should always be synthetic.
i have a 96 manual and i use full synthetic on mine but you dont have to use full synthetic..if you dont know what is in it right now then i would go for a 50/50 oil(half synthetic and half regular) because you can always go back from there to either regular oil or full synthetic...but once you go full synthetic you can not go back to regular or you will mess up your motor...and you are supposed to use 4 quarts

Use SAE 5w30 full synthetic. 4.2 quarts with oil/filter change. Use any major brand of your choice, but I recommend Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic.
Sure you can.
Yes.
I always use Motul 20w/40. It is not synthetic, and change it every 7500 km.
Yes!
Pre 1998 uses 80w90 After 1998 uses 75w140 synthetic.
I run synthetic 5w20 in my NA 1998 V70 with no problem. I do change it every 3K and the engine has 125k on it now.
A 1998 Mercedes Benz will take approximately 7 - 8. 2 quarts of oil. Mercedes vehicles need special synthetic oil, take care that the oil meets the requirements in the car owner's manual.
It can use either or but synthetic is the best for your engine well worth the 10 dollars more it is!!! f.y.i.10w 30 valvoline full synthetic is the best in my opinon
