The starter motor is behind the crank pulley on the passenger side. This is not a driveway job. You'll need a lift and a few special tools if you're trying to replace it your self.

I have a 1995 sport. the noise you are talking about could be either your Idler or water pump. Very easy to fix if your handy with tools. If its the water pump it may take about 4 hours, but just take your time.
Simple! 1. disconnect the battery 2. Crawl under vehicle and remove two 14mm bolts holding starter. 3. Remover signal wire from solenoid 4. Remove main power wire 5. Bring new starter under vehicle with you 6. Replace signal wire 7. Replace power wire 8. put starter into hole. 9. Tighten two 14 mm bolts that hold starter 10. Attach battery 11. Set clock on radio 12. Clean tools 13. Bandage cuts on knuckles Piece of cake!
