Soldiers during that time mainly used muskets with bayonets attached to the end. Some soldiers could afford a single shot rifle. The sailors and Navy would most likely use flintlock pistols as did pirate Sir Francis Drake.
Artillerymen would have the cannons (obviously) and short swords. The Calvary Men would have model 1763 Sabers and sometimes Flintlocks like the Navy.

∙ 12y agoThe British army used their Brown Bess musket ignited by a flintlock action (mechanism). The Americans used miscellanous muskets and the famous Kentucky long rifle (not a musket) also equipped with a flintlock action. The Kentucky long rifle is also known as the Pennsylvania long rifle; which it should be as it was designed and built in Penn & not Kentucky. It got its Kentucky name from fighting in the War of 1812...and the name stuck.

∙ 13y agoThe main weapons of the American Revolution were the muzzle loading flintlock musket, its attached bayonet, and the cannon. Secondary weapons were the rifle and pistol, swords and other cutting weapons. By far, the most common weapon was the smooth bore flintlock musket, of a large caliber, .62 to .75 inch bore, or equal to 16 to 11 gauge shotguns.
