any carnivore or omnivore will kill its own young. the reason being, they are "protecting" them. rather than let something else kill and eat them, it feels it should kill them in order to keep something else away from them.

What are examples of learned behavior and instinctive behavior for horses?

The main instinct of a horse would be the flight instinct. Because horses are prey animals, they are always on the alert for any smells, sounds, and sights of predators. When a horse is spooked by something, whether it be a predator that wants to kill, or simply a plastic bag blowing towards them, their first instinct is to run first and think later. Another instinct is the herd instinct. Horses are naturally herd animals, which is why you must provide your horse with another animal for company (Cow, goat, another horse, etc.). Horses tend to stick together in a herd for safety, company, warmth/cleanliness, etc. If you separate a horse from a herd it has grown up, it may become distracted or call out to it's friends because it is apart from them.

It's called "free range," and some consumers feel that it's a more natural way for animals to live, whether this makes them taste better, lowers the risk of diseased meat or is just a matter of compassion for the animals themselves.

Why humans don't permit animals reproduce?

Animals that have an intimate association with humans whether domestic livestock or pets also enjoy the benefits of their protection. Dogs and Cats, decendants of their wild ancestors, still have reproductive capability associated with the extremely high mortality rate. Since the survival rate is so much higher in animals under human "protection" there is also a need to limit their reproductive rate or the result is over population. Since many people have pets that are intact and often uncontrolled there is, on the whole, too many animals. Wild animals often require managment as well, due to dwindling habitat, lack of natural predators and subsequent encroachment on human settlements.

What effect do animals have on humans?

they give us food It depends on whether a person is speaking of wild animals or domestic animals. For one domestic animals can have a profound affect on their owners. In convalescent homes it has become apparent that those that interact with domestic animals, cats for instance, had their emotions boosted and appeared happier than they had before they had the cats around to pet, play and love. Domesticated animals have presented a problem to society as there is an ever increasing number of stray animals that are present in the US and around the world. In the US it is an increasing burden on the public to take care of stray animals as the population of strays is on a steady increase. Due to a larger world base of humans there is the result of a higher number of humans that have animals as their pets and as a result services for these animals is more widely needed such as veterinarian's, food supply stores, etc. Wild animals for the most are largely responsible for supplying food to humans in one form or another. Meats, Eggs, Dairy, etc. Not to mention more expensive delicacies such as Caviar. And then there are humans that use animals for dietary purposes such as Fish oil which is oil that is derived from oily fish.
