It is estimated 5.7% of the population, about 6 million people (the second largest after Peru), speaks any one of these languages besides Spanish and 0.8% speaks only one of these Amerindian languages. Nahuatl is spoken by about 1.5 million and about 800,000 to 1.2 million speak Yukatek Maya and about 700,000 more speak other Mayan languages.
