A gear type pump has two gears in it that pull fluid through between the teeth creating pressure as it is forced out the other side.
Usual location is in the pressure line between the pump and gear.
As the engine speed increase so does the speed of the oil pump. the faster the pump turns the higher the pressure becomes. When changing gear the engine speed drops along with the oil pressure.
A pump produces movement in the fluid it is pumping. It does this by creating:a low pressure zone into which the fluid is drawn (vacuum pump)a high pressure zone which the fluid wants to escape from (tire pump)A physical displacement of the fluid (gear pump, worm pump)centrifugal forces which move the fluid outwards from its center
it will provide you with a high pressure. It can reach 200 bar and its use for high viscosity liquids.
Power steering systems can be diagrammed into two chief components. These are the power steering pump and the rack-and-pinion steering gear. The power steering pump sends pressurized fluid into the rack which moves the gear actuating the tie-rods, which moves the wheels in the desired direction. The power steering pump has a low pressure return line and high pressure out one.

The water pressure from a well is controlled by a pressure switch with a low setting of about 20 psi and a high setting of about 40 psi. It is adjustable for both high and low pressure and some wells, depending upon the pump capability will run from 40 psi low to 60 psi high.
