The walls were rebuilt using the materials from the rubble of the former walls, with some wooden beams in parts.
10
In the book of Nehemiah chapter 3 , has 10 gates mentioned.
Nehemiah rebuilt Jerusalem's wall in only 52 days. It made the city smaller than the original boundaries. The wall is made from stone and mortar with gates. One side is built on the slope.
the 12 gates in nehemiah mean building one life back never forgetting where one come from.
There are currently eight gates in the Old City of Jerusalem. These gates are historically significant entrances to the city and are named based on their direction or symbolism.
Twelve Gates
The number of gates of New Jerusalem as John describes them is Twelve. The traditional meaning of the number twelve is foundation.
The quarter of Jerusalem that can be translated as 'hundred gates' is known as Mea Shearim. It is a well-known ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighborhood in Jerusalem with a rich history and a distinct community.
The walls surrounding Jerusalem were planned and built by Nehemiah and Ezra. They are 2.4966 miles long, 39.37 feet high and surround the old city of Jerusalem. The average thickness of the walls is 8.2 feet. Thirty-four watchtowers and eight gates are part of the structure.
I'm not 100% sure, but... Jerusalem??
Jerusalem had all sorts of "gates" by which to enter and exit the city. This passage names a few of them. The names were simple enough, in that they were named after their function, generally. In the NIV Bible, Nehemiah 2:13 goes this way: "...By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal Wall and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire."A fair guess is that outside Jerusalem, through the Dung gate or "dung port" [hopefully at a reasonable distance downwind from the city]... one would probably have seen lots and lots of animal excrement. Someone was probably hired full-time to "flang dung" out of the city.
He rebuilt the walls from the Sheep Gate in the North, the Hananel Tower at the North West corner, the Fish Gate in the West, the Furnaces Tower at the Temple Mount's South West corner, the Dung Gate in the South, the East Gate and the gate beneath the Golden Gate in the East.
