OKay, one is led to believe that yes, Amerigo Vespucci did in fact meet with Native Americans. He traveled to many established societies, not made by the Europeans. Just think to yourself when Columbus "discovered" the Americas. Then think of the time when Vespucci explored. There was not much time for the Spanish/other countries to colonize in the part of South America he explored. He did say he met people (Im almost positive) therefore, they must have been Native Americans. Thanks for listening I hope this helped! P.S. The stuff in quotes is what I said, its in quotes because I think it looks cool. =)

Historians show that Vespucci sailed with Hojeda to the coast of Venezuela in 1499. He published a account of his travels in 1507 which he stated he had discovered and reached the mainland in 1497. These have been proven to be lies. So, who did he meet? In Venezuela he may have met people living there. He never got to the mainland of North America.

During Vespucci's time, Christopher Columbus tried to find a new route from Europe to Asia. He sailed across the Atlantic and landed in what he thought was Asia. But in reality, he discovered a whole new land mass: the Americas. Amerigo Vespucci was an Italian explorer who told the world that this land mass wasn't Asia, but was an unseen land mass. The continents were then named after him in his honor.

How did the new continents across the Atlantic Ocean come to be called America?

ike most, I've known that the Americas were named after Amerigo Vespucci since my early education. However, the story behind why this is the case is somewhat more interesting and quite a bit less well known. Vespucci was a navigator that traveled to "the new world" in 1499 and 1502. Being a well educated man, he realized that this new world was not part of Asia, as some had initially thought. Vespucci chose to write about his travels and his books were published in 1502 and 1504. Being both entertaining and educational, his accounts of the new world were reprinted in almost every European language.
