no you cannot use it in 2004 Oldsmobile alero
The Oldsmobile Alero has a sealed system with no dipstick. A total change requires approximately 9.5 quarts of Dexron III transmission oil.
4.5 quarts
After changing the engine oil, you must reset the system. To reset the system, you must do the following: 1. With the ignition key to ON, push the RESET button located in the driver's side instrument panel fuse block. 2. When the CHANGE OIL light starts to flash, press and hold the RESET button again. The reset is complete when you hear the chimes sound and the CHANGE OIL light goes out. Use 5W-30. It is the recommended weight by GM.
If you are wanting to change your oil and don't know how to get it out, you use an oil pan. to get the oil out, go underneath your securely elevated car and look for a square box under there (metal in the components) it should be in the front, middleish, slightly behind your motor. To make sure it's the right box, look for a small screw on the back edge (this is for the 2004 oldsmobile alero) you'll need a wrench, but make sure to put your chest below the screw and your oil pan on top of your chest. or else you will get oil all over yourself. The oil filter is in the front side of the box. btw my directions are as the car drives (forward is front)
The Oldsmobile Alero has a capacity of 9.5 quarts of transmission oil. It is important to use Dexron III oil and not Mercon.
( 5 quarts ) with engine oil filter change
Should be 4.5 Quarts with oil/filter change. To be sure, park the vehicle on a level surface. Change the oil and filter and add 4 qts. of oil. Start the engine and run for 1 minute. Shut down and wait 1 hour. Check the level and add if necessary. Do not overfill. You now know the capacity.
Plug Underneath car on the oil pan.. And take off the oil filter on bottom.... USE OIL PAN....Because oil will come out quick...
The 1999 Oldsmobile can use any SAE certified motor oil. The manufacturer recommends 10W-30 weight motor oil. Extreme climates can use a heavier motor oil.
( 6 quarts ) WITH ENGINE OIL FILTER CHANGE ( according to the owners manual )
