hi,
First of all let me tell you one thing that before Microsoft there was very little scope for personal computers and softwares related to those computers. Still there were some softwares and software building programming languages. FORTRAN or formula translation, the first high level programming language, was invented by John Backus for IBM, in 1954, and released commercially, in 1957. It is still used today for programming scientific and mathematical applications. Fortran began as a digital code interpreter for the IBM 701 and was originally named Speedcoding. John Backus wanted a programming language closer to human language, which is the definition of a high level language.
At that time the softwares available were Aldus Pagemaker, Trillian, Wordstar, Computer Chess, VisiCalc Spreadsheet. WordStar - The First Word Processor Released in 1979 by Micropro International, WordStar was the first commercially successful word processing software program produced for microcomputers and the best selling software program of the early eighties. first desktop publishing program was created by Paul Brainard and a company called Aldus, the program called "Aldus Pagemaker 1.0" was released in July, 1985 for the "Macintosh" and in December, 1986, for the "IBM". If you go with the history of operating system than previously there was nothing except UNIX.
Before Windows Vista was created, Windows XP was the previous operating system launched in 2001 which continued from Windows Milennium (2000) operating system. Because Windows XP was a basic GUI (Guided User Interface), the system would load very quicker when turning on compared to Vista. Vista has much more security features compared to XP, however Vista has been criticised as a result of being too focused on security, where tests have shown that Vista is very unsafe in general to work on, compared to other operating systems such as XP and Windows 7.
There were many kinds of OSs back then, most command driven. Here are some I can think of:
1. Apple
2. UNIX
3. PC-DOS
4. Commodore 64
5. Amiga
The operating system before windows 1 was doornob
no such thing as windows 1
Microsoft Disk Operating System - MSDOS
Windows XP
Assuming that we are only talking about the personal computer (PC) market, before Microsoft's Windows operating systems, Microsoft's Disk operating system, or DOS, was used. Before that, CP/M was a popular computer operating system.
Bill Gates was the man who invented Microsoft
All versions of Windows to-date have been made by Microsoft.
Microsoft 95 was the first operating system by Microsoft
MicroSoft - Disk Operating System
Windows 7 is the name of new Microsoft's operating system.
XP is the abbreviation assigned to a computer operating system designed by Microsoft that is now outdated.
so people could see the Microsoft view. (alternative answer) Microsoft windows was invented in order to create a computer operating system that would be user friendly, in other words, that would be intuitively easy to use, rather than requiring the user to learn arbitrary procedures.
No. Microsoft Access is a database application, not an operating system.
I guess windows 7 is the latest version of operating system in MICROSOFT.
Microsoft Powerpoint is not an operating system. It is an application. It does not come as part of any operating system. It must be bought separately or as part of one of the Microsoft Office suites.
