Buddhism arose in the Hindu milieu, and thus is associated with Hinduism.

Buddhism influenced the development of Daoism (or Taoism) in China. Buddhist concepts were also absorbed by Manichaeism and arguably by the Eastern Christian Church.

Buddhism spread from India throughout much of Asia, and missionaries even went as far west as Egypt during the first century CE. Over time and distance, Buddhism has assimilated much and contributed much to the religions with which it has made contact:

Buddhism is related to Hinduism, springing from the Hindu milieu.

Hinduism, in turn, is related to Zoroastrianism, because of their common ancestry in the Indo-Iranian culture of southern Russia. Thus, similarities can be found between Hinduism and Zoroastrianism, with an indirect influence on Buddhism.

Since Zoroastrianism seems to have contributed to Judaic belief, as well as contributing further to Christian and Islamic beliefs, Buddhism is arguably related at a distance to these religions.

The Daoist religious beliefs of China are in many ways similar to Chinese Buddhist beliefs.

Ultimately, many of the great religions of Europe and Asia (even European paganism) are in some way related to each other. Thus, similarities between Buddhism and other faiths are not always coincidental.
