Mauritius is an independent country and so it is not controlled by any other country.
I'm assuming you mean Bechuanaland instead of Bechuandland.If so then Great Britain was in control of the at area of Africa at the time. Bechuanaland was eventually split into two with the British Bechuanalnad on the northern half and the Bechuanaland Protectorate on the other.
Because in the past history there were only European countries that colonies or became the protectorate of Africa and that makes them got related to each other and in such case some European got married to the African's,so now u can see that there's alot of European's in Africa.
Africa is a continent not a country. There are no African countries that are members of NATO. Other then the US and Canada, all of the members are European.
