Fear of progress is called "Prosophobia". Progress has been moving forward for 19 billion years ( from the big bang to the present). People fear progress because it is change and living in the past and the present and never experiencing something new and different feels better; but fear of change also brings complacency and if people were able to turn back the clock and live say 50 years in the past, society would become backwards. To sum it up progress cannot be stopped wheather people like or not.
