A lot of sports where players/ participants are chasing hundredths and personal records. Like in swimming, for an example, they really want to lower their friction to avoid being slowed down by the water. The same goes for 100-meter runners.

A lot of mechanical stuff also has low friction, to improve performance, speed etc. The vikings pulled their big ships sometimes up to several miles over the land by using rounded timber to pull the ships on, thus lowering the friction. Leonardo da vinci was the first known to make a modern ball bearing (and ball bearings are formed for reducing friction in amongst others an inline wheel).

Other than that, you might want to lower the friction to increase durability. This is what is done in objects who work using repetitive movements like back and forth-drilling, so that the object does not get stuck.

What kind of friction can help reduce friction?

I never heard of friction reducing friction. You can reduce friction by using lubricants, as well as using wheels (as in ball bearings).

How does oil reduce air friction?

Oil is mainly used to reduce friction between contacting surface, e.g., metal on metal - not to reduce air friction.

the factors that reduce in case of friction are the velocity and acceleration.

What does a bit of oil reduce in science?

Oil is used to reduce friction.

What kinds of substance reduce friction?

Friction is the act of one surface rubbing against another. To reduce friction, use something that offers a small amount of friction. Smoother substances reduce friction. A way to reduce friction is to use something which offers a small amount of friction. For example, you could use something like plastic or glass. Water, most liquids and different types of oil reduce friction. Powder, oil and grease are used in between surfaces to also reduce friction.

What are the ways in which friction is reduce on aeroplane?

by giving it better aerodynamics you can reduce friction. but also the faster it goes the more friction it gets.
