The Solider by Rupert Brooke is about how when you die in War, that foreign land you die on is a little richer because you have died there and it basically describes how War is full of glory and honour. Rupert also goes on about how great England is, mostly because he was a English solider fighting.

This poem, in my opinion is very biased and not very truthful.

(I hope this helps but I would check yourself, Google might help, because this is just my opinion and might be wrong. Also try Wikipedia.) :)

Rupert Brooke's attitude towards war was initially idealistic and patriotic, as reflected in his early war poetry. He viewed war as a noble and transformative experience, glorifying the idea of sacrifice for one's country. However, his perspective somewhat changed as he witnessed the harsh realities of war, leading to a more nuanced view.

Rupert Brooke hated war very much. In his poem 'The Soldier 'he reveals his attitudes towards war. He does this by explaining his opinions and thoughts about his future death. Brooke says "If I should die, think only this of me: That there is a corner of a foreign field that is forever England". By using this quote, Brooke points out that he is not afraid to die or be killed.

I believe Rupert Brooke idealised war to some extent. - but then Brooke was in the Royal Navy and never saw the Horror and sadness of 'trench warfare' though his brother died in the Somme.
I prefer the more gritty realist poetry of Seigfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen.
