The "warp drive" is a ficticious device used in Science Fiction - specifically, in the Star Trek series. It is not a real device, and I don't think many details are published about how it is supposed to work.

What is a warp bubble?

A warp bubble is a theoretical design of propulsion that is able to overcome the theory that nothing can travel passed the speed of light. Instead of trying to go faster, the warp bubble allows a craft to condense the space in front of them and expand the space in back of them. In essence it is like a cosmic surfer. The spacecraft would ride upon the wave of spacial distortion that it is creating by its warp bubble.

Why does wood warp because of hot water steam?

mainly because the heat makes the wood weak. Therefore making it warp. (okay honestly, I'm guessing)

What is the Alcubierre warp drive and how does it work?

It is a mathematical metric showing how a ship could theoretically travel faster than light in a global sense while not violating any physics laws. It works by not propelling the ship conventionally such as with rockets, but actually "warping" spacetime around the ship itself. The ship is actually sitting still inside of the spacetime warp bubble but on the outside you are going faster than light. From what we know so far, the only way we think we can artifically warp spacetime is by somehow manipulating exotic matter, such as dark matter perhaps, which as of now we have no idea how to do. In star trek they generate a certain form of matter called "warp plasma" from an antimatter reactor. They then shoot the plasma, which I thorize to be some form of exotic matter, onto a warp coil which creates the bubble outside of the ship. They shoot the plasma onto the warp coil in a pattern, which creates propultion. As of now, we will need some large physics breakthroughs to make this work, and we don't even know if it's possible right now. If we were to fund things like NASA more instead of wars and unneeded welfare, we could have something like this and be exploring the stars in 100 years instead of 400.

Is warp speed Faster-than-light?

In the language of Star Trek it is, like the word mach implies a speed faster than sound. Don't know if warp is used to describe faster than light speeds in real life.

What is the difference between hyper drive and warp drive?

Warp drive has a powerfull engine that warps space around it and hyper drive travels through space in a streight line where as warp bends the fabric of space to travel from one destination to another

Use warp in a sentence?

It was so hot that the plastic cover began to warp. A spacecraft equipped with a warp drive may travel at velocities greater than that of light by many orders of magnitude The star ship Enterprise can do a maximum speed of warp ten. Each individual warp thread in a fabric is called a warp end.

Why does a space shuttle move in space when there is no gravity?

The warp drive engages.

Is warp drive possible?

No. Our species does not possess the technology for faster than light speed.

Is a warp drive possible?

Does Warp Drive destroy the fabric of space?

Nobody knows, because so far, there is no such thing as warp drive, and the fabric of space is an almost meaningless phrase that's used mainly to talk about Physics to people who don't understand much of it.

If enterprise was caught in black hole could it use warp drive to escape?

Assuming a warp drive opened a wormhole, yes. If it only allowed the ship to travel "conventionally" faster than light, it would depend on how close it got. Once it passed the event horizon it would be so smashed up, there'd be nothing to run the 'warp drive' - matter and energy compress harder and faster as you approach the event horizon.
