Lactic Acid Fermentation
Lactic Acid Fermentation
Creatine levels increase in the blood,(I may have misspelled that).. It is a protein byproduct of oxygen starved damaged muscle tissue. If it is very elevated it can damage the kidneys. You will feel very thirsty, this is the body wanting to flush the kidneys. Check for blood in the urine. Doctor will administer saline IV's to flush the system.
Lactic Acid Fermentation
glucose ---------> lactic acid + ATP
In order for the muscle fatigue to end the muscle cells must be provided with oxygen to 'burn' the lactic acid.
The process in muscles which uses oxygen is called respiration. Muscles, like all aerobic living cells, require oxygen for aerobic respiration, which is the process by which cells convert food into energy. So when muscles contract, they are using oxygen. When muscles do not get sufficient oxygen for contraction, problems arise. The muscle cells must use anaerobic repiration which is respiration without oxygen. They cannot do this for very long though as the byproduct of anaerobic respiration is lactic acid which causes a fall in pH.
Without oxygen the muscles switch to the less efficient fermentation process to extract energy from glucose. This floods the muscle cells with lactic acid, causing a burning sensation. If the lactic acid levels rise high enough the muscle cells begin to degrade and some may even die.
If the demand for oxygen is not met for a long period of time, the cells within the muscle tissue will die.
Lactic Acid Fermentation
Lactic acid fermentation
cellular respiration if there is enough oxygen. Lactic Acid fermentation if there is a lack of oxygen.
Fermentation is a way to produce energy when there isn't enough oxygen available.
glucose ---------> lactic acid + ATP
Oxygen is able to go into a cell by diffusion. The oxygen molecules are small enough to go through the cell membrane with that process.
In order for the muscle fatigue to end the muscle cells must be provided with oxygen to 'burn' the lactic acid.
When the muscle cells are deprived of oxygen, the cells produce ATP through the anaerobic fermentation. Glycolysis occurs in the cytoplasm and does not need oxygen. In the glycolysis pathway, two ATPs are produced as net products. Also, anaerobic fermentation occurs. The pyuvate is converted into lactic acid and regnerate NAD using this process.
It is anerobic respiration. Lactic acid fermentation is taken place
During exercise muscle cells use oxygen.
