Warranty is the first thing. Make sure any parts replaced carry some sort of warranty PRIOR to purchase. Also, make sure the labor is warranted in case a mechanic does it wrong. Other than that it's up to you to make an educated decision on the shop.

There are mant steps to removing this transmission, but the engine needs to be supported and the sub-frame removed. The transmission has to be removed from the bottom. I work at a transmission shop and have done these many times. If you don't do this all the time, i suggest taking it to a professional, can be dangerous if not knowing what you are doing.

1993 was the first year the automatics used the electronic 4L60E transmission. Any 1993 - up Blazer/Bravada/Jimmy/S10/S15 automatic transmission should do.
