Original was R-12. Good luck finding it......and you certainly won't like the price. There are conversion kits to convert it to R134a....which is what all newer cars use. I've done the conversion by simply adding the correct inlet adapters and nothing else. But to do it "correctly" you really should replace the receiver dryer and have the system evacuated.
