The problem with the Caste System is that it stratifies a society in such a way that if one is born as, say, a pariah one will always be a pariah no matter what one does in ones life to try to change that. It is a tenet of their religious faith. those born to the priestly caste will always be priests and will be wealthy, those born to the pariah caste will always be the lowest of the low, the untouchables.

It is a tremendously un-just system. Those in the wrong caste are not allowed to do things that those in higher castes are.

Caste system was karma based, as is confirmed in Mahabharat during discussion between Yudhisthir and Nahush (in the form of great serpent), who had fainted powerful Bhima. All 4 castes were created by Lord Brahma ji and are from different parts. Shudras are from his legs. CAn you live without legs? all 4 are important. There are some evils in Hinduism, born out of ignorance, due to periodic destruction of dharma, but the fact remains that Hinduism is sanatana dharma. From spiritual POV, each caste from top to bottom has decreasing devotion and purity for God.

Brahmins control all 3 and are supposed to live pure live. Kshatriyas also respect brahmins, but they protect society thereby giving peace and security. To function a society, vaishyas (business men) are necessary, but they alone cannot do everything. they need a helping hand, shudras. It is said that shudras were born out of feet of Lord Brahma. Some say so they are inferior. It is not so. Remove the legs. Can you do anything without legs. To be complete all parts of body are important. From spiritual POV

Brahmins have more sattva Guna. they live for the welfare of all. They are the keepers of dharma and spread peace and happiness, worship Gods and please them, by performing rituals, so they shower their grace upon us. A country id happy of gods are happy. Gods (demi-gods) are also very important for day-2-day life as they control all 5 elements.

Kshatriyas have more rajas guna they want glory, name and fame, they are fearless and protectors of country. They are born fighters and are highly respected for their valour.

Vaishyas are more considered about profit and loss. They would not mind backing off if they do not see any profit and compromise their ethics. They are ready to even go to Hell if they see the profit. .

Shudras are more concerned about physical activities and celebrate festivals the only practical understanding.

Sanyasins and Tyagis: Rising above Cast.

Sanyas is not necessarily given to only brahmins. In the diksha ceremony, Guru instructs disciple into sanyas (monkhood) and asks him to perform his own funeral rites. After the rites are over, he gives him a new name, which is a new identity. Sanyasins rise above cast, creed, kula, gotra, jaati, country, etc and contemplate on Supreme (formless) Brahman. Some may even contemplate on personal God. Hence Hinduism also asks one to rise above caste system. Sanyasins are above all 4 castes and are even respected by Kings and Brahmains. Just like King has a brahmin adviser (Raaj Purohit), a King also has a Raaj Guru (royal dynasty Guru), who is a sanyasin.

Tyagis are ones who have renounced mentally, but yet live in society. Some call them mystics. Both sanyasins and tyagis are worthy of equal respect.

Note:There are people of different mindsets (prakruit) and to cover them, there are different paths and different Gods. Hence Hindu dharma is called eternal dharma. Whenever there is decline, God have committed to take avatar and protect it. From time to time, there are great souls and avatars who have guided mankind from darkness and misconception to light. To some Shiva is suitable i.e. mind calms down easily by chanting name of Shiva then chanting name of rama. To others opposite is true. Some worship Krishna, devi, Maa durga, some Adi shakti, kundalini, etc. Each according to prakurti. You do not need to change your nature, but adopt path that suits you. There is dvaita and advaita and there is Yog. Each person can choose his own path and way of worship. It is unity in diversity. Any person living on this earth can be categorized under any of these paths, karma, bhakti, jnana and yog. Hinduism is a way of Life.Moksha, which is the final goal can be achieved by many paths. Praising any form of God or any path is necessary for generating one-pointed devotion in disciple / devotee.
