What are safe fertilizers or fertilizing techniques to use around pools to eliminate the chances for high phosphate levels and a green pool?

Most fertilizers will contain some amount of phosphates and nitrates. Both of which are food for algae. The best method is to have the fertilizer applied using a drop spreader (not a rotary spreader). Water the fertilizer into the lawn/garden areas. Prevent walking on the fertilized area for several days. If phosphates get high in the pool/spa then you can use a phosphate remover to lower the quantity in the water.

What is the setting on an ez broadcast spreader made by republic when applying ace green turf crabgrass preventer 36-3-4?

I spread 10,000 sq-ft of ACE Green Turf over about 12,000 sq-ft of lawn using my Republic rotary broadcast spreader. I used a setting of 4 for the front yard (which was too much) and 2.5 in the back yard (which was too little). So, I'm thinking the right setting was about 3. Not very scientific, hope this helps...

What is the setting for a standard scott's spreader with lesco product?

This is a tricky question since there are different kind of scott spreaders and the lesco products doesn't list the settings for all of the scott's spreaders. I use the standard Scott spreader. What I figured out is that the spreader number represents the amount of pounds of product per 1000 sq ft. Example: if you want to apply 4lbs/1000 sq ft of product then use setting 4. If you want to apply 8lbs/1000 sq ft then use setting 8. Always remember not to go over the maximum amt of product per year. This is important when applying lesco pre-emergent and post-emergent since it can affect the PH of the soil. I also found this chart. The standard Scott spreader setting goes from 1 to 18.GENERIC SETTINGS - Rotary / Broadcast SpreadersApplication Rate3 lbs/1,000 sq. ft4 lbs/1,000 sq. ft5 lbs/1,000 sq. ftSpreader Range1 -- 102½3½41 -- 183451 -- 241416181 -- 40253033

Caking is a common problem for compound fertilizer. To prevent this problem, the following measures are necessary: 1. Rational collocation of raw materials; 2. Strictly control the moisture content of the finished product, reduce the evaporation of moisture; 3. Strictly control the particle size of raw materials and improve the effect of screening; 4.Use fertilizer rotary cooling machine to decrease the packing temperature to lower than 40; 5. Use fertilizer rotary coating machine to coat the granules with oil or powder anti-caking agents

Lawn Fertilizer Schedule?

It’s spring! And for the majority of you homeowners out there, that means it’s time to get the yard into shape. Perhaps the most important step when beginning your seasonal yard work is dealing with the largest, most visible feature of your property: The lawn. Fertilizing your lawn will not only green and thicken your yard, but also protect it against common pests like grubs and weeds. The following seven steps will get you from an embarrassing ’winter thaw’ lawn, to a vibrant trophy lawn. step one: Timing! - Fertilizing your lawn is important, but fertilizing at the wrong time can be almost as useless as not fertilizing at all. Wait for your lawn to de-thaw before spreading your fertilizer. This generally takes a few weeks of early-spring weather, and will generally grow enough to require a mow or two. Step two: Choosing! - Now it’s time to select a fertilizer. Look for brands of fertilizer that fit your lawns needs. On the side of the bag should be a list of types of grass the fertilizer is good for (Bluegrass and Zoysia are two of the most common) and check to see how often it should be applied. step three: For the young lawn - A young lawn of two years or less will appreciate a formula designed for it. Theses formulas will be obvious, as the bag will read ’new lawn’ or ’starter formula’ on the side. These formulas have strong thickening properties essential to the development of new lawns. step four: For the old lawn - Select slow-release, granular complete fertilizers for lawns of more than 2 years. These formulas come packed with nutrients that will deliver steady growth throughout the season. Avoid fertilizers that use only one ingredient, like nitrogen or potassium. step five: Spread! - Buy or borrow a spreader. Calibrate the spreader to a setting conducive to your fertilizer’s needs, and ’mow your lawn’ with it. Cover the lawn once, walking at a steady pace, in a way that will provide even coverage. step six: water-soluble fertilizer - These brands don’t last long, so repeat as directed by the label. Use these with caution, and spread them evenly to avoid over-feeding. step seven: Repeat at least twice per season! Not only do you want to get your lawn in good shape, but you want it to stay that way. Be sure to double check your bag to ensure that your lawn is getting the correct amount of fertilization each year.
