Some women get helped by getting on the Birth Control pill. They end up bleed less, shorter time and less painful. There are also pills that help with the pain when ordinary aspirin does not work. Muscle relaxers are the ones working and I use Naproxen which works really well. You have to see am doctor to take care of this. It doesn't have to be like this at all.

You just started your period today and have cramps and you used a tampon is it bad?

Menstrual cramps are common but they are not normal - most people can prevent menstrual cramps with lifestyle changes, but if severe you should talk to your doctor about finding the cause. Tampons can increase menstrual cramps as they can expand into the cervix. You may be better using menstrual cups, softcups, or pads if you find tampons increase your menstrual cramps.

Why there is pain during periods?

Menstrual cramps are common but not a normal part of healthy menstruation, it should be noted that most women can prevent menstrual cramps and that severe menstrual cramps may be a sign of a serious underlying health problem. Menstrual cramps are a result of hormone-like chemicals that cause uterine contractions, in too high quantities they cause the blood vessels in the uterus to contract so starving the uterus of oxygen - a little like a heart attack - and thus the pain.

How can you tell the difference between menstrual cramps and pregnancy cramps?

Just speaking from experience. You shouldn't have pregnanacy cramps?? When I was miscarring I had severe cramping but that was later on the preganancy. Do you have spotting or bleeding? If so, contact your doctor right away! Have you miised you scheduled period? Menstrual cramps feel similar to inital labor pains, but of course the labor pains become much more intense. Good luck to you. THE REAL ANSWER RIGHT HERE!!!!!! yes...you should have cramping during pregnancy because your uterus is making way for the baby. yeah you can have misscarrage cramps but c'mon, everyone knows about implantation cramps.....

What should a girl do if she have severe menstrual cramps?

Most women can prevent menstrual cramps with changes to lifestyle such as by having a better diet and improving attitudes towards menstruation, regulating hormones with herbal treatments can also help - it's a good idea to look into menstrual cramp treatments yourself to see what works for you. Do muscle contractions cause menstrual cramps?

No, not quite.Prostaglandins are produced which cause the uterine contractions to push out menstrual flow, in a healthy woman this should not be painful. It's when the prostagladins are overproduced that menstrual cramps occur as these cause blood vessels to contract so cut off oxygen to the muscle.

Can Ibuprofen increase menstrual cramping?

Are you mental? The side effects are written on the information leaflet and are the same whatever you take it for. It will not help with your menstrual or mental health problem though, again I refer you to the leaflet.

Does birth control cause bad cramps?

No - oral contraceptive pills usually decrease menstrual pain. The cramps we get during our periods are usually due to the uterus contracting in order to get rid of the endometrium (which is the bleeding we get). Oral contraceptive pills reduce these contractions and should therefore reduce the pain. If your cramps are getting worse, there may be some other reason for this and you should make an appointment with your doctor.

What should you eat for high flow of menses?

You don't necessarily have to eat anything if you have heavy periods. You can eat foods high in iron such as dark leafy green vegetables and liver leading up to and during menstruation to help prevent low iron levels. Coffee during menstruation can also constrict blood vessels to reduce blood flow, but this can add to menstrual cramps so best avoided if you are prone to menstrual cramps.
