I would just be straight with them. If its an important vacation for special reasons they should have no issues giving you the time off. I started a new job about 4 months ago and informed them of needing a week off at Christmas because of family and going away and they had no problem with it. Hope this helped. Mostly just be up front and honest about your reasoning.
