You need to have an oil pressure test run to determine if the oil pump is bad or the sending unit is defective. It could also just be a bad seal, or something to that effect. Check your oil fill cap and see if it is staying tight. It would make sense for the oil pressure to be higher at first when the engine is cold, because the oil would be thicker. Once it gets warmed up and thinner, the pressure should go down some, but not to zero.
