13.5 to 15.5 volts with the engine idling.
If you are checking Alternator voltage, It should 12.8 volts to 14.3 with engine running. Battery voltage is 12.3---12.8 with engine off.
Normal voltage, checking at the battery or alternator should be in the 14 range.
Check the battery voltage, bike not running. Start the bike (crank the rpm's up a little), voltage should be a couple of volts more than battery voltage. Check both voltage (running and not running) at battery terminals. Charge voltage isn't all though, if it doesn't stop charging when it should it will boil the battery dry. If you are having this symptom, it's for sure the regulator
around 12.5 to 12.8 volts
Automotive Battery VoltagesAssuming your voltage meter is accurate, the battery is fully charged, when the key is turned on, without the engine running, and no accessories turned on, the meter indicated voltage should be 12 volts. When the engine is running and the alternator is charging the battery, the voltage should indicate anywhere between 13 volts to about 14.6 volts.Answer 2 - A wider Acceptable Range13.5 −16 volts is acceptable with the engine running.
You need a voltmeter. A fully charged battery is 12.6 volts. With the engine running the voltage on the battery supplied by the alternator should be 13 to 14 volts. A few auto parts stores will do the check for you if the battery has enough charge to get you there.
Either bring to auto parts store for checking or Use a voltmeter With engine off and a fully charged battery reading should be around 12.8 With engine running and a good alternator voltage should be 13.8-14.2
The voltage for this is 12 volts The alternator/generator should be producing 13.5 to 14.5 volts
It should be 12 volts, unless the engine is running, then it should be 13.8 to 14.2
Anywhere from 13.5 to 16 volts at the battery with the engine running.
A fully charged battery should read approx. 12.8 volts without engine running With engine running should read approx. 13.8-14.2 volts
Maybe the battery is defective. Check the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine running at idle. You should get 13.5 to 16 volts. If not the alternator is defective or the voltage regulator is bad. If you are getting the correct voltage, the battery is bad or the connections are corroded.
