Timing Your car needs to be in a good state of tune ( new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and timing set properly). I suspect you may have carb/choke problems ; A carb that 'gets you by 'in warm weather will really act up when it gets cold. Check this: when the car is cold pull off the air cleaner and see if the choke is fully closed; it should be.If it is not, your choke needs to be adjusted. Also the choke pull-off needs to 'pull' the choke blade off a fraction to allow air to enter the engine while the choke is on , and the motor is going thru the warm up period. I hope this helps you a little. Mark

5W - 30 ( according to the 2000 Ford Mustang Owner Guide for the 4.6 liter V8 engine )
The year of your Mustang would be helpful. But is should be between 4-6 quarts depending on the engine. Hope This Helps
The Ford Mustang does not have a timing belt, it has a timing chain that should last the life of the engine and requires no maintenance.
If the engine in that Mustang is maintained properly the catalytic convertor should last the lifetime of the vehicle.
10w30 the recommended weight.
The Mustang V6 does not have a timing belt it has a timing chain which normally will last the life of the engine.
My ( 1991 ) Ford Mustang 5.0 LX came from the factory with ( 5W-30 )
