If you feel the same then why not take a chance, there is nothing better than being in love with your best friend.
On the other hand if you do not feel the same, or there is some other reason why the relationship would be wrong (such as if one or both of you are already married, etc. ) then you have a problem that you need to talk about. Sit down with your friend and let them know your feelings honestly and unapologetically; and draw a clear line as to how you see the relationship going in the future. If they are really your friend then they will respect your wishes.
