It is critical that the wires go from the PROPER terminal "tower" on the distributor to the PROPER plug.
You will need to get a diagram of the proper terminal tower wiring number pattern, and the proper spark plug numbering sequence in order to reinstall the plug wires correctly.
You may be able to borrow a repair manual for your make, model, and engine at your local library. IF NOT, you can usually buy a manual at any one of your local auto parts stores. Good luck!
You may have bad plugs as well CheckSpark can evaluate plugs and wires in seconds, works on all engines with plugs and wires new or old big or small.
Start by testing the compression. It should be consistent within a few PSI on each cylinder. Any cylinders that have little or no compression probably have a burned valve. If all cylinders are up, check the plugs, wiring and distributor.
no. a hammer is a good way to fix it
You distributor cap and rotor should also be replaced. If still no spark. check the compression on the low cylinders to see if you have good compression.
Could be plugs and wires (spark plugs) I had a mis-fire (only 3 cylinders running) and I replaced my spark plugs and wires, and it worked. I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SE. Cheers!
If you have an engine code that is saying misfire on these cylinders it is usually a bad coil on the plugs of those cylinders. You are probably going to need to have them replaced. Check and replace the plugs if necessary.
4-cylinders have four spark plugs, 6-cylinders have six spark plugs, 8-cylinders have eight spark plugs, etc, etc, etc
spark plugs = the number of cylinders your car has. Tercel should be a 4 cylinder so 4 spark plugs.
you should take it to a car tech or some one that knows how to set the timing if that does not work you should have your timing belt replaced.
it depends on the number of cylinders.. if 2 cylinders it has 2 spark plugs if 4 then it has 4.
It depend on the Cylinders...For example, If a car has;4 cylinders it has 4 spark plugs6 cylinders it has 6 spark plugs8 cylinders it has 8 spark plugsSometimes there are 2 plugs per cylinder. Such as the Ford 2.3L 4 cyl has 8 plugs and the new gen Hemi's from Dodge have 16 plugs on a V8 engine.
With a socket for removing plugs. The wires should just slip off and need to be replaced with the exact same length.
I really hate to be the one to tell you the bad news but it is possible that you have bent some valves. Take the spark plugs out of the missing cylinders and run a compression check on those two.
