The answer is different for different cars. I once owned a car where the battery was underneath the back seat. I forget which side, though :-( For the Sebring, it would be under the fender in front of the driver side wheel. There are terminals up top to connect jumper cables to if you need to.
Usually written on a label on the battery which may be on the side.
The battery is in the driver side fender.
If you are sitting in the car drivers side, the battery is on the left front (drivers side)
on the frame or on the side of the engine block
connect negative side first
the battery should be located in the rear of the car in the boot on the right hand side.
What year is your car? Did you mean the CHECK ENGINE light? The battery gauge?

I have a 1993 300sl and the battery is in the trunk on the passenger side. There is a knob that has to be twisted out and the wll of the trunk should pop out revealing a car battery. Its not that hard. Hope this helps.
The positive side of a car battery is red - look for red plastic cap or the "+" symbol on the plastic next to it. Also the positive post is slightly larger than the negative post.
The battery in the Saturn Vue is located under the hood on the driver's side, near the front of the car.
