Requires a special wrench tool. Look on eBay for "Volvo Oil Filter Wrench" They are about $10.
To replace brake pads on a Volvo v70 first safely jack up the vehicle and place stands to hold it up. Remove the lug nuts and wheel. Remove the caliper and slide the brake pads out. This will be repeated for all four wheels.
3/4" wrench
The oil filter is located underneath the engine, passenger side. You will see it in a black plastic housing. The Volvo S40 doesn't use a traditional metal style oil filter. You can order the filter from your Volvo dealer or K&N makes one as well, model # HP-7002. You will need a special wrench to remove the filter, you can order this from your Volvo dealer or from Amazon.com (search for Volvo S40 filter wrench), made by AST/Assenmacher, cost is roughly $14.00.
this is dependent on if the ring is "sweated" on or bolt on .... if its bolt on then remove the wheel , take off the brake caliper and the caliper holder , undo the large nut , that holds on the hub and remove . then unbolt the two bolts that hold on the abs ring and replace .... then refit everything you took off .
