Integrated into the alternator.
To change the alternator in the truck, first disconnect the battery and then disconnect a plug that the alternator has on the right top of the alternator. Then there is a red cover that has a bolt and then unscrew that and then there are two more larger bolt, one on top and one on the bottom and then it should come out. But before you do all that take off the belt. Thank you

inside the alternator. check the fusable link at the alternator and at the starter before changing the alternator.
Easiest way is to check the voltage your getting out of it when you have electrical loads on (headlights, radio, blower) If the alternator is faulty the voltage would be low
The alternator is in a tricky spot, you need to finagle it out thru the top it is difficult but possible just work it towards the passenger and up, but if tetris is not your favorite game of choice......The easiest way is to remove the drivers side cv shaft and drop the alternator down thru the where the shaft was it will literaly fall out, just more work to.
